Sr Corporate Counsel India Operations

Amazon Seller Services Private Limited, an Indian subsidiary of Amazon.com, a US based MNC in the ecommerce business, is looking for a talented lawyer to fill the position of Sr Corporate Counsel to support our fast expanding operations in India. This position, based in Delhi/Bangalore and reports into the Director and Head of Legal for India , will focus on the backend end operations, supply chain, transportation and leasing requirements of the Company. This is a senior level position and the candidate is expected to provide strategic direction on business models and regulatory requirements for new businesses that the company is planning to get into. The candidate will have primary transactional drafting and negotiation responsibilities on contracts with multiple vendors and provide ongoing legal counseling and contract interpretation for senior executives and other business team members. These transactions range from standard contracts to complex, high-dollar-value agreements. The candidate also will be expected to participate in other Amazon legal projects as directed, including the administration and resolution of legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries. The candidate should have a thorough knowledge of inter state regulatory issues and should be able to work closely with the business team to identify locations for setting up large fulfillment centers across India. The candidate is expected to maintain excellent relationships with his clients in the Operations team and win their trust and at the same time, he should work closely with the US based Operations group to help roll out initiatives in India in line with US programs and policies.
The successful candidate will have excellent negotiation skills, possess excellent communication skills and have a reputation for being a valued partner to business clients. He or she will be a logical and quick thinker, with a clear and concise communicator style; he or she will be able to simply complex matters and tailor their communication style to their audience; and he or she will possess the gravitas/confidence/presence required to be a respected leader amongst the Senior Operations Management teams.
The successful candidate will be willing to take risks backed by sound judgment and risk analysis and be perpetually seeking ways to innovate within the business to improve results and customer experience.
He or she will have demonstrated success at developing, executing or changing a vision or strategy and delivering the right communication throughout the organization working with corporate partners. He or she will have experience at building lasting and sustainable relationships with counterparts throughout the organization, be known for displaying the highest level of integrity and for inspiring trust by his or her team, peers and leadership.

Basic Qualifications 

The ideal candidate will will have a strong reputation as a successful advisor to clients on operations and real estate matters. He or she will preferably have 15 to 20 years of post-qualification experience, ideally both as in house counsel of a large supply chain company and as outside counsel advising large companies on operational issues.
You will have gained wide-spread experience of managing operations including real estate matters, advising landlords and tenants as well as property owners and investors. You will also thrive in fast paced, dynamic, growth environments and will have a strong reputation for delivering results. 

Preferred Qualifications 

A LLB degree is a must while a LLM degree is desirable.
