My World Global Survey 2015

Your 3 minutes – a valuable contribution to help the United Nations in deciding the future goals of the world we live in.

In 2000, United Nations mentioned eight international development goals that were officially established following the Millennium Summit of the United Nations, following the adoption of the United Nations Millennium Declaration known as The Millennium Development Goals. All 189 United Nations member states and at least 23 international organizations have agreed to achieve these goals by the year 2015.

At this moment, United Nations is conducting a global survey with the title ‘MY WORLD’. MY WORLD is a global survey for citizens led by the United Nations and partners. It aims to capture people’s voices, priorities and views; so that global leaders can be informed as they begin the process of defining the new development agenda for the world.

Individuals have to choose six of sixteen possible issues they think would make the most difference to their lives. The sixteen issues have been built up from the priorities expressed by poor people in existing research and polling exercises and they cover the existing Millennium Development Goals, plus issues of sustainability, security, governance and transparency.  Involvement of citizens of all ages, genders and backgrounds, and particularly the world’s poor and marginalized communities is of at paramount necessity.

Gujarat National Law University, has been invited by the United Nations as a partner organization to participate in the voting on the theme of MY WORLD to contribute in the process of identifying the new development goals of the world. We, as responsible young citizens of the world, need to give our inputs and our opinions on a bigger platform, this may be the chance to shape our FUTURE.
