{"id":6432,"date":"2016-02-27T21:15:23","date_gmt":"2016-02-27T15:45:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.lexwarrier.org\/?p=497"},"modified":"2023-07-01T15:56:32","modified_gmt":"2023-07-01T15:56:32","slug":"maximum-age-limit-for-appearing-clat-removed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lex-warrier.in\/archives\/maximum-age-limit-for-appearing-clat-removed.html","title":{"rendered":"[Breaking] Maximum age limit for appearing CLAT removed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While considering a <strong>Public Interest Litigation<\/strong> filed by the students of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lexwarrier.org\/national-law-schools-legal-education-india.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Law School<\/a> of India University<\/strong>, seeking to scrap the maximum age limit criteria for appearing the <strong>Common Law Admission Test<\/strong>, <strong>Jaipur Bench of Rajasthan High Court<\/strong>, passed an interim order directing <strong>Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University<\/strong>, to accept applications without any age discrimination.<\/p>\n<p>In this regard, court further directed <strong>Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University<\/strong>, to update their software system, where the applications are accepted online, so that, no applications will be rejected on the basis of <strong>maximum age limit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>While issuing the interim order, court observed that, the <strong>Bar Council of India, <\/strong>itself withdrawn the Clause 28 of Schedule III, Rule 11 of <strong>Bar Council of India Legal Education Rules, 2008<\/strong> on the ground that, introduction of discriminatory classification of students by prescribing an age limit is in violation of the provisions of the <strong>Advocates Act, 1961<\/strong>. Court, further considering the candidates from rural areas said that, fixing maximum age limit will not serve the purpose of conducting <strong>Common Law Admission Test.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Read Full Judgment <\/strong>of <em><a href=\"http:\/\/clat.ac.in\/pdf\/order_07032015.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kshitij Sharma v. Writ (PIL) Petition No.2497\/2015<\/em> at <a href=\"http:\/\/rhccasestatus.raj.nic.in\/smsrhcb\/rhbcis\/index.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rajasthan High Court, Jaipur Bench<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Earlier, in a similar case, Allahabad High Court also scraped the upper age limit for appearing <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lexwarrier.org\/common-law-admission-test-pattern-of-clat-exam.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CLAT Exam<\/a><\/strong>.
