These scholarships are funded by the UK\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/department-for-international-development\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Department for International Development (DFID)<\/a>. For information on other scholarships offered by the CSC, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/cscuk.dfid.gov.uk\/apply\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Apply page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Levels and subjects of study<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You can apply for a Commonwealth Scholarship for the following levels of study:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Master\u2019s (one-year courses only)<\/li>\n<li>PhD<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">All subject areas are eligible, although the CSC\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cscuk.dfid.gov.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/selection-criteria-developing-cw-2015.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">selection criteria<\/a>\u00a0give priority to applications that demonstrate the strongest relevance to development.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You are requested to apply for a course of study at a UK university with which the CSC has a part funding agreement.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/cscuk.dfid.gov.uk\/apply\/uk-universities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UK universities which have part funding agreements with the CSC<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nominations<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There is a nominating agency for Commonwealth Scholarships in each Commonwealth country.<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/cscuk.dfid.gov.uk\/apply\/developing-cw-countries\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National nominating agencies invited to nominate candidates<\/a>, including contact details<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition, universities and university bodies in a number of developing Commonwealth countries are invited to nominate candidates to the CSC for PhD study only. (All applications for Master\u2019s study must be made through a national nominating agency.)<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/cscuk.dfid.gov.uk\/apply\/scholarships-developing-cw\/nominators-universities-academic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Universities\/university bodies invited to nominate their own academic staff for PhD study<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Each year, the CSC invites each nominating agency\/university\/university body to forward a specific number of nominations. Each nominating agency\/university\/university body is responsible for its own selection process, and in most cases they will set their own closing date, which will be before the CSC\u2019s deadline for nominations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Approximately 300 of these scholarships are awarded each year. The CSC invites around three times more nominations than scholarships available \u2013 therefore, nominated candidates are not guaranteed to get a scholarship. There are no quotas for scholarships for any individual country. Candidates nominated by national nominating agencies are in competition with those nominated by universities\/university bodies, and the same standards will be applied to applications made through either channel.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Terms and conditions and eligibility<\/h3>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/cscuk.dfid.gov.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/prospectus-scholarships-2015.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Commonwealth Scholarships 2015 prospectus<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 includes full terms and conditions (please note in particular the eligibility criteria)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Applications are considered according to the following selection criteria:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>Academic merit of the candidate<\/li>\n<li>Quality of the proposal<\/li>\n<li>Likely impact of the work on the development of the candidate\u2019s home country<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">See\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cscuk.dfid.gov.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/03\/selection-criteria-developing-cw-2015.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Selection criteria \u2013 2015 Commonwealth Scholarships for developing Commonwealth country citizens<\/a>\u00a0for further details.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Please note that the CSC does not impose any age limit on applicants for its awards, but national nominating agencies may do so in line with their own priorities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">You may also find the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/cscuk.dfid.gov.uk\/apply\/feedback\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Feedback for unsuccessful candidates in 2014<\/a>\u00a0useful.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">How to apply<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">All applications\u00a0<strong>must<\/strong>\u00a0be made through your\u00a0<strong>nominating agency (or university\/university body, if applicable) in your home country<\/strong>.
