Internships are the stepping-stones to a successful career. Hence, it is always recommended that, during the law school days a law student shall find sufficient time to do internships. However, it must be noted that, as per Bar Council of India (BCI) guidelines<\/a>, one shall not do or go for an internship outside university vacations.<\/p>\n

Prior to applying for an internship at the office of an Advocate, it is always recommended to find out the area of specialisation of proposed Advocate. Some may be practicing only civil or criminal cases. Some others may be on vide variety of cases. However, it must be noted that, when you are going to do an internship at an Advocates Office, your priority is to learn the basics of court procedures such as the concept of Vakalatnama, Plaint, Written statement, Petition, Public Interest Litigation, Court Fees, Private Complaint, Bail, Evidence, and Affidavit etc.<\/p>\n

In this regard, it is always appreciated that, you go to an internship with a thorough knowledge of procedural laws such as Code of Civil Procedure, Code of Criminal Procedure, and Indian Evidence Act etc. once you have a thorough theoretical knowledge of these procedural laws; it will be easy for you to co-relate the theory part when an assignment is allotted to you.<\/p>\n

Say for example; you know the theory part about a Plaint and its ingredients. Now when your employer gives you a task of drafting a plaint. Now if you know what all are the essential information which must be incorporated in a plaint, it will be easy for you to draft a plaint.<\/p>\n

In these lines, you may design your resume where you indicate that, you have sufficient knowledge in the theory part of the procedural laws. It is always appreciated you publish one or two articles on topics covered under procedural law.<\/p>\n
